MyL (Made Ya Look) was nothing but a group of friends started by Vong's brother Vbjoker (Boon), Bust-A-Cap (Alex) and EvanRocKz(Evan) back in 2003 when version 1.5 came out. Vong's brother introduced him to the game after a month. Boon, Alex and Evan trained Vong's ass off. Vong says he has them to thank for his abilities. The only map they played was regular Pipeline (prior to Pipeline SF). Vong suggested they should turn their group gathering into an actual clan, but, the others didn't want to. The group enjoyed a bit of fame when Evan was selected by AA to be MVP of the year. He won a graphics card. The cool thing about this is whenever anyone loaded up the game, they would see the group's tag on "EvanRocKz[MyL]". MyL had the best stats on AA as well as on Pipeline. The group started with 6-10 players. They dominated regular Pipeline pretty much. Since they weren't an actual clan, Vong decided to find good and honest players and let them into the group. Evan was not happy about it, and was ticked off at Vong. Vong explained that the group was getting more recognizable everyday, players saw the group as a clan, why not just make it a clan? Evan didn't want to, so he left the tag off his name as did some of the others in the group. No one wanted to claim the tag. Boon still wore the tag, and Vong told him "I'm taking over". When Vong took over the clan didn't have a website or game server until 2004-2005. They would recruit on the official AA servers and use an MSN group site to communicate. The group had TeamSpeak, but seldom used it. Today, TeamSpeak is almost a requirement to join the clan. Clanmembers vote on new recruits, and only vote for people they feel they will get along with well. The best way to decide that is to play the game with them while chatting on TeamSpeak. Vong realized the clan needed a website, so they signed up with a web hosting company. Back then renting a game server was not cheap, and also it wasn't available to the public. When Vong saw the opportunity to rent a game server from GOA he took advantage of it, and rented a 16 slot server. Enercell (John) helped the clan build a website and set up the game server. Currently, MyL maintains a 24 slot public server, a 20 slot public non-honor server, a private 10 slot server for TWL matches, the clan webserver, the pipesftournament.com server, their own TeamSpeak server, a Pipeline SF coop server and various domain names related to the clan and AA. The pipesftournament.com site is a gathering place to sign up for the quarterly Pipeline SF tournaments that MyL recently started hosting. MyL was champion of the first tournament held in late April 2008. MyL recently merged with -=DC=- (Destruction Crew) clan, resulting in a larger, stronger clan. MyL currently has 31 active members and 10 to 15 idled players, players who for whatever reason, have taken a break from AA to deal with life! :) |
